French house legends Stardust (Thomas BangalterAlan Braxe, and vocalist Benjamin Diamond.) burst onto the European pop scene back in 1998, ten years after music stopped being cool. They were some of the first in that decade to take old disco riffs and build upon them. MSBWU relied on Chaka Kahn’s “Fate” from 1981. The track went top 10 in almost all countries in Europe, climbing to #62 on the Billboard chart in the US.
The Drop Out Orchestra boys turn on their funk-machine and layer this classic even further, readying it for the 2020’ies, 22 years after the track’s initial release from Stardust. The bass line has been buffed and the overall feel of the track has been taken in a slightly more Housey direction, still pertaining its original flavor.
The track is available on Bandcamp.
